versace couture spring 2012

Couture's a bit weird. It's kind of like the short story, in that far, far more energy and column inches seem to be devoted to talking about it than pounds are spent on it. But I love short stories, and I studied them in college for about three years, and I even write some on rare occasion. And I love the couture shows too, even though the idea of it having an actual practical application in my life is legitimately out of the realms of possibility unless my plans to marry rich get confused and I accidentally marry really really really bloody rich instead. Anyway, Versace did a show and while I definitely don't have Versacemania like the rest of you (looking at you, palm-print-legged women of Central Saint Martins) I can still get behind stuff like this.

Because it might put an end to stuff like this, which is from almost two whole years ago and yeah, it's still killing me with its prettiness. I won't lie But come on. Hands up if your desktop background was the group shot from this Givenchy show at some stage. Me too. But maybe unobstructed prettiness has done its time for now. Couture customers - all 8 of them - are maybe ready for something new and a bit cooler. Thanks for that one Donatella.
